Description
A mining ghost town located at the junction of three trails at the headwaters of the Animas River. The first cabin was built here in 1873, and by 1876 the community had a hotel, general stoore, saloon, post office, and over 30 cabins. By 1883 the population grew to almost 450 people! At 11,200 feet in elevation, this mining town in Colorado had a few year-round residents, but many left to warmer climates at the first sign of winter.
